Commonwealth Building 12th Floor Lobby: Portland, OR
The Commonwealth Building designed by Pietro Belluschi has seen many aesthetic changes over time with its history of tenants. The 12th floor of the building is one of the few remaining which still exhibited materials and details true to the era and original design. COLAB worked with the building owner Unico Properties to update the lobby, which currently serves two architecture firms, to bring it closer to the original character and create a more warm and inviting space.

Removed were dated carpeting, fabric wall panels and paint. In their place continuous walnut wall paneling to match original woodwork, warm and vibrant toned carpet tile, refurbished original parquet wood flooring and dark wall tones to accentuate natural materials were utilized to achieve this goal.
