Southern Miss Development: Portland, OR
The project site is located on the west side of the intersection of N. Mississippi and N. Cook Streets in Portland. The site consists of two existing lots that will be combined to form a triangular corner lot, which will take an important gateway position to the thriving Mississippi Avenue District. Development plans call for a five-story building to be constructed on the triangle shaped site. It is anticipated that the daylight basement level will be raw industrial space possibly used by craft businesses. The ground floor will have one small retail / café space and an adjacent outdoor patio facing Mississippi Avenue. The upper levels will be flex industrial space providing workspaces in a variety of sizes for individuals and small businesses. In addition, the top level will have an outdoor roof terrace with sweeping views of downtown Portland. This project aims to create a strong urban impact on a limited budget while incorporating such green design features as solar panels, vegetation walls and pedestrian/bicycle supportive elements as a 100% car-free development.
