Pavel House Addition: Molalla, OR
COLAB designed this freestanding addition that is connected to the main house by a curvilinear bridge. The gesture and expense to construct this autonomous structure are offset by the preservation of a prized old growth Douglas fir tree and the benefit of using a more buildable area of the site. Construction was accomplished with minimal disruption to the main house. The resulting bridge design produced a sculptural form that flowed around the tree and created a natural courtyard between those elements and the house.
